We share our step-by-step guide on how to measure your wrist for a bridal bracelet.

Choosing the perfect bridal bracelet is a delightful part of your wedding planning process, but ensuring it fits just right is key to achieving that polished, elegant look. Whether you’re shopping online or having a custom piece made, knowing your wrist size will help you find a bracelet that’s both comfortable and flattering.

A well-fitting bracelet is one that’s snug enough to stay in place, yet loose enough to allow for comfortable movement. Here’s a simple guide on how to measure your wrist for a bridal bracelet.

1. Gather your tools

You’ll need:

  • A flexible measuring tape; the kind used for sewing or craftingg is perfect.
  • If you don’t have a measuring tape, a strip of paper or a piece of string can be used as an alternative.
  • A ruler will be handy for measuring the paper or string if you’re not using a tape measure.
  • A pen or pencil for marking the paper or string.

2. Find your wrist bone

Locate the prominent bone on the outside of your wrist. This is where your wrist begins to widen into your hand, and it’s the point around which you’ll measure for the best fit. It’s usually the narrowest part of your wrist.

3. Measure your wrist

Using a measuring tape:

Wrap the tape around your wrist by positioning the tape just below the wrist bone. Ensure the tape is snug but not too tight. You should be able to fit a finger comfortably between the tape and your skin. Note the number where the end of the tape meets the rest of the tape. This is your wrist size.

Using paper or string:

Wrap the paper or string around your wrist, snugly just below the wrist bone. Use a pen or pencil to mark where the paper or string overlaps. Lay the paper or string flat and use a ruler to measure the length from the end of the mark. This measurement is your wrist size.

Measure your wrist a couple of times to ensure accuracy. It’s better to have a precise measurement than to guess.

4. Determine your bracelet size

Now that you have your wrist measurement, the next step is to decide how you want the bracelet to fit.

  • Snug fit: Add 0.5cm (1/4 inch) to your wrist measurement.
  • Comfortable fit: Add 1.25cm (1/2 inch) to your wrist measurement.
  • Loose fit: Add 2 to 2.5cm (3/4 inch to 1 inch) to your wrist measurement.

For example, if your wrist measures 6 inches, your bracelet size would be:

  • Snug fit: 6.25 inches
  • Comfortable fit: 6.5 inches
  • Loose fit: 6.75 to 7 inches

5. Consider the bracelet style

Different bracelet styles may require slight adjustments in size. Bangles typically neeed to be slightly larger to fit over your hand. Measure the widest part of your hand (around the knuckles) to ensure the bangle will slide on easily.

Cuff bracelets are often adjustable, so you may have more flexibility with sizing. Choose a size close to your wrist measurement for a snug fit, and gently adjust as needed.

The fit of pearl bracelets can vary depending on the size of the pearls. Larger pearls on a bracelet will sit a bit tighter than smaller pearl so keep this in mind when you select your size.

6. Order your bracelet

Now that you have your wrist measurement and know the fit you prefer, you’re ready to shop for your bridal bracelet.  If you’re ordering a custom piece, provide your jewellery designer with your exact wrist size and the type of fit you want.

When ordering online, check the bracelet’s size guide if available, as different brands may have slight variations in sizing.

Pearl drop earrings offer endless possibilities for bridal styling. Best of all, they’re an accessory you can treasure and wear long after the wedding day.

Pearl drop earrings are a timeless bridal accessory that exudes elegance, but they can also be styled in a way that feels fresh and modern. Whether you’re a minimalist bride or someone who loves to do things a little differently, pearl drop earrings offer versatility that allows you to express your unique style on your wedding day and beyond. Here’s how to style these classic pieces for a contemporary bridal look.

1. Choose earrings that reflect your personality

Your wedding day is the perfect opportunity to showcase your personality through your accessories. Pearl drop earrings come in a variety of designs, from simple and understated to bold and artistic. Consider what speaks to you:

  • Classic and chic: If you have a timeless, classic style, opt for traditional pearl bridal earrings with clean lines and simple settings. These earrings will not only complement a wide range of bridal looks but will also be versatile enough to wear for other special occasions.
  • Modern and minimalist: For a bride who prefers a more contemporary look, consider pearl drop earrings with geometric shapes, mixed metals or an asymmetrical design. These earrings will add a modern edge to your bridal ensemble without overwhelming it.
  • Bold and expressive: If you love making a statement, go for oversized pearl drops or earrings that incorporate additional elements like crystals or coloured gemstones. These earrings will draw attention and highlight your personality.

2. Match your earrings to your dress style

The style of your wedding dress plays a significant role in determining which pearl drop earrings will look best. Here’s how to match them:

  • Minimalist gown: A sleek, minimalist dress pairs beautifully with simple pearl drop earrings. Consider earrings that have a single pearl or are a set in a modern metal frame for a clean, polished look.
  • Lace or detailed gown: If your dress features intricate lace or beading, choose pearl drop earrings that incorporate subtle details, such as small diamonds or mixed metals, to complement the dress without competing with it.
  • Statement dress: For a gown with a dramatic silhouette or bold features, opt for a pearl drop earrings with a unique design, think pearls set in artistic shapes or paired with unexpected materials.

3. Consider your hairstyle

Your hairstyle can either showcase or downplay your earrings, so it’s essential to consider how your chosen style will work with your earrings.

  • Updos: A classic updo, such as a bun or chignon, will highlight your pearl drop earrings, making them the focal point of your look. For this style, you might choose longer drops or earrings with added sparkle to catch the light.
  • Loose waves: If you’re wearing your hair down in loose waves, opt for pearl bridal earrings that are slightly longer or have a bit of volume, ensuring they stand out against your hair.
  • Short hair: Short hairstyles are perfect for showcasing bold earrings. If you have a pixie cut or bob, don’t be afraid to choose pearl earrings with a modern twist, such as an unexpected combination of pearl sizes.

4. Coordinate with other bridal jewellery

When styling pearl bridal earrings, it’s important to balance your look with other jewellery pieces.

  • Necklace: If your pearl drop earrings are intricate, consider skipping the necklace or opting for a very delicate chain. If your earrings are simpler, a contemporary necklace can elevate your look.
  • Bracelet: A simple pearl or diamond bracelet can work well with pearl drop earrings. For a modern look, consider a chunky pearl bracelet, sleek bangle or cuff.

5. Express yourself through colour

Pearls aren’t just white anymore. Modern brides can choose from a range of pearl colours, from classic white to greys, pinks and purple hues.

  • White pearls: Timeless and versatile, white pearls are perfect for any bride, especially those who love classic elegance.
  • Grey pearls: For a more dramatic and unique look, grey pearls offer a striking contrast and are a perfect for a bride with a modern, edgy style.
  • Pink or mauve pearls: These colours add warmth and can be a great choice for brides looking to incorporate a soft, romantic touch into their look.

6. Think beyond the wedding day

One of the best things about pearl drop earrings is their versatility. Here’s how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe after the wedding:

  • Formal events: Pearl earrings are perfect for formal events, such as engagement parties, black-tie affairs or even date nights. Pair them with a little black dress or an evening gown.
  • Casual chic: Channel old money vibes with pearl drop earrings for a more casual setting. They can add a touch of classic detail to simple blouses, tailored pants or a summer dress.
  • Anniversary dinners: Wear your wedding day pearl earrings on your anniversary to bring back memories of your special day. It’s a beautiful way to keep the sentiment alive.

Choosing the right bridal earrings can be a game-changer for your wedding day look.

Earrings can enhance your features, complement your dress, and tie your entire bridal ensemble together. However, not all earring suit every neckline. The key to finding the perfect pair lies in understanding how your earrings interact with the neckline of your wedding dress. We’re here to help you make the best choice, offering styling tips and practical advice to ensure your earrings complement your look perfectly.

1. V neckline or low V back

A low V neckline or low V back is the ultimate in sensual sophistication. A low front doesn’t necessarily mean you need to wear a necklace to fill the space.  Instead, consider statement earrings with a longer drop or a backwards facing headpiece can be the perfect details to accentuate the lines of the low V.  Play on the long angular lines with unique accessories such as chain thread earrings, a long pearl drop or a clean wedding veil that highlights the strong V lines.

Best earring styles:

  • Drop earrings: Drop earrings are a natural choice or a V neckline. They mimic the downward plunge of the neckline, creating a harmonious and balanced look.
  • Teardrop earrings: Teardrop earrings can echo the shape of the V neck, adding a touch of elegance while enhancing the neckline’s slimming effect.

Styling tips:

  • Necklace pairing: A delicate pendant or lariat necklace that follows the line of the V neckline can complement drop earrings beautifully.
  • Face shape: If you have a round face, longer drop earrings can help elongate your face, balancing the sharp angles of the V neckline.

2. Strapless or sweetheart necklines

A sweetheart neckline is one of the most versatile necklines to accessorise.  The world is your oyster. A necklace, earrings, headpiece and/or veil will all work together but the key is not to over-accessorise.

If you’d love to wear a crown, you don’t necessarily need to pair it with larger-than-life earrings or a necklace. A statement crown can look absolutely exquisite with crystal studs and no necklace, drawing attention to your face and dress.

Best earring styles:

  • Statement earrings: With a strapless or sweetheart neckline, your shoulders and collarbone are exposed, creating a beautiful canvas for statement earrings. Opt for chandelier earrings, oversized studs, or dramatic drop earrings to draw attention to your face and elongate your neck.
  • Delicate danglers: If your dress is already heavily embellished, choose more delicate danglers that add elegance without overpowering your look.

Styling tips:

  • Balance is key: If you choose statement earrings, consider forgoing a necklace or opting for a simple one to avoid overwhelming your décolletage.
  • Hair considerations: Updos or side swept hairstyles work wonderfully with statement earrings allowing them to shine without interference from your hair.

3. Halter neckline

Styling a halter neckline with earrings is all about balance and harmony. By choosing simple, elegant earrings that complement the neckline rather than compete with it, you can enhance the beauty of your dress without overwhelming it.

Best earring styles:

  • Studs or small hoops: Halter necklines often draw attention to the shoulders an upper body. To avoid competing with the neckline, opt for simple stud earrings or small hoops. These provide a touch of elegance without clashing with the neckline’s structure.
  • Pearl or diamond studs: Classic choices like pearl or diamond studs add a timeless elegance that suits the sophisticated look of a halter dress.

Styling tips:

  • Focus on simplicity: Because the halter neckline already creates a strong focal point, your earrings should be subtle. Avoid long or dangling earrings that might compete with the neckline.
  • Hair considerations: Consider an updo or high ponytail to fully showcase the halter neckline an keep the focus on your dress.

4. Off-the-shoulder neckline

An off-the-shoulder neckline is sensual, chic and utterly feminine. It draws attention to the neck, face and shoulders in the most beautiful way. It’s a shame to over accessorise this area and often a set of longer earrings or a backwards facing headpiece or crow is all you need.

If you just want a touch of sparkle, opt for some simpler studs to keep this area open and clean.

Best earring styles:

  • Chandelier or statement earrings: The off-the-shoulder neckline leaves plenty of space for statement earrings. Chandelier earrings can add drama and draw attention your face and collarbone.
  • Delicate drop earrings: Delicate drop earrings with a pearl suspended from a fine chain are a great choice. They add a touch of glamour while complementing the open neckline.

Styling tips:

  • No necklace needed: With an off-the-shoulder dress and chandelier earrings, you might want to skip the necklace to keep the focus on your earrings and the neckline.
  • Consider your hair: Loose waves or a soft updo can complement the romantic vibe of an off-the-shoulder dress while showcasing your earrings.

5. High necklines

We love to pair high necklines with anything from stud earrings that draw attention to the face to longer earrings on the delicate side. Avoid heavy chandelier style earrings if your dress features a lot of detail around the face as this can be a bit distracting and compete with the other details.

Pearl or crystal studs or dainty chain earrings are the perfect way to add a classic and sophisticated detail to a modern and chic neckline.

Best earring styles:

  • Stud earrings: While a high neckline covers most of your décolletage, generally it’s best to avoid long, dangling earrings that could compete with the neckline. However, if your earrings are your only accessory and your hair will be up and off your face, this combination can look quite breathtaking. If you wish to pair your look with other accessories, stud earrings provide a polished look without overwhelming your outfit.
  • Simple thread earrings: If you prefer  something with a bit of length, opt for delicate chain earrings that add a touch of elegance without drawing too much attention away from your face and dress.

Styling tips:

  • Skip the necklace: High necklines often look best without a necklace. Instead, let your earrings and perhaps a bracelet do the talking.
  • Hair consideration: An elegant updo can help elongate your neck and keep the focus on the beautiful high neckline and earrings.

6. Boat neckline

When styling a boat neckline with earrings, the key is to find a balance that enhances the neckline without overshadowing it. Opt for earrings that add vertical interest.

Best earring styles:

  • Drop or dangling earrings: Boat necklines are wide and sit close to the collarbone, making them ideal for drop or dangling earrings that add length and draw the eye vertically.
  • Pearl or diamond drops: These classic styles can enhance the elegance of a boat neckline without overwhelming it.

Styling tips:

  • Keep it simple: Since the neckline is already a strong feature, choose earrings that are elegant but not overly elaborate. Simple drops or small chandeliers work well.
  • Consider a side part: A side parted hairstyle with soft waves can beautifully frame your face and complement the neckline and earrings.

7. One shoulder neckline

Styling a one shoulder neckline with earrings involves achieving a balance between the bold asymmetry of the dress and the subtle elegance of your accessories.

Best earring styles:

  • Studs or small drops: Studs or small drop earrings are often the best choice for a one shoulder neckline. These styles add elegance and sparkle without drawing attention away from the neckline.
  • Asymmetrical earrings: For a moder twist, some brides choose to wear asymmetrical earrings that play off the one shoulder design. For example, a small stud in one ear and a longer drop earring in the other can create a chic, fashion forward look.

Styling tips:

  • Match the drama of the dress: If the one shoulder dress is simple and sleek, you might have more room to experiment with slightly bolder earrings. However, if the dress has a lot of detail or embellishment around the neckline, it’s best to keep the earrings minimal.
  • Echo the shape: Earrings that mirror the angles and lines of the neckline, such as geometric shapes or angled drops, can complement the asymmetry of the dress beautifully.

Your bridal jewellery is not just an accessory; it’s a symbol of the one of the most important days of your life. Whether it’s a stunning pair of earrings, a delicate necklace or a cherished heirloom, your bridal jewellery holds sentimental value and deserves the utmost care. To keep your pieces sparkling and beautiful for years to come, follow these essential tips on how to care for your bridal jewellery.

1. Clean your jewellery regularly

Keeping your bridal jewellery clean is crucial for maintaining its shine and brilliance. Here’s how to do it safely:

  • Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewellery after each wear. This removes oils, sweat and makeup that can dull the surface.
  • For a deeper clean, mix a few drops of mild dish soap with lukewarm water. Soak your jewellery for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Rinse with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. If your jewellery features pearls, do not submerge your jewellery into water as this can damage the pearls and weaken the silk thread and attachment.
  • Steer clear of using bleach, ammonia or other harsh chemicals, as they can damage metal and stones.

2. Store your jewellery properly

How you store your bridal jewellery can make a significant difference in its longevity:

  • Store each piece of jewellery separately to avoid scratches and tangling. Velvet lined jewellery boxes with individual compartments are ideal.
  • If you don’t have a jewellery box, soft pouches made from cotton or soft fabric can protect your pieces from damage.
  • Keep your jewellery in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity. High humidity can cause tarnishing, especially for silver pieces.
  • For pearl jewellery, store them flat to prevent the strand from stretching over time. Pearls are delicate and can be damaged by excessive pressure.

3. Wear your jewellery with care

On your wedding day and whenever you wear your bridal jewellery afterward, it’s important to handle it with care:

  • Make your jewellery the last thing you put on after getting dressed and the first thing you take off when undressing. This minimises exposure to makeup, perfume, hairspray and lotions that can tarnish or damage your jewellery.
  • Be mindful of rough surfaces that can scratch your jewellery. Remove your rings, bracelets and other pieces when engaging in activities that could cause damage.
  • If your bridal jewellery includes pearls or opals, remember that these stones are softer and more prone to scratching. Treat them with extra care and avoid contact with abrasive materials.

4. Mindful storage during travel

When travelling with your bridal jewellery, take extra precautions to keep it safe:

  • Keep your bridal jewellery in its original box if possible to protect your pieces from bumps and scratches.
  • Always carry your bridal jewellery in your hand luggage rather than checking it in. This ensures it stays with you and reduces the risk of loss or damage.
  • Consider only taking the essential pieces on your trip to minimise the risk of losing or damaging your valuable items.
